About Deanna

Therapy with me is an active and engaging process. I create a space characterized by authenticity, humor, and acceptance. I believe that being direct and genuine helps in building a therapeutic relationship where real change can occur.

My practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches and tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. In therapy, I create a space characterized by authenticity, humor, and acceptance. I believe that being direct and genuine helps in building a therapeutic relationship where real change can occur. My approach integrates strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Self-Compassion, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These methodologies not only aid in managing distress but also empower you to lead a life aligned with your values and aspirations.

I often incorporate hypnosis in my sessions, which has proven effective in both acute symptom management and deeper therapeutic processes. Hypnosis is particularly beneficial for enhancing pain management, reducing anxiety, improving sleep quality, and supporting behavioral changes related to health and well-being.

My specialization includes work with individuals dealing with chronic pain, chronic illness, and trauma recovery, including traumatic injuries. I have a passion for supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and chronic illness, helping them navigate their recovery and regain functionality. Additionally, I enjoy working with high-achievers navigating chronic health challenges and those suffering from performance anxiety. Whether it’s athletes preparing for a big game, or professionals facing high-stakes exams like surgical boards or the bar exam, I provide strategies to enhance performance, improve focus, and increase confidence.

Therapy with me is an active, engaging process. We will explore areas of your life where you feel stuck, and I’ll help you employ strategies from ACT and CBT to overcome these barriers. We will use tools to cultivate a kinder and more forgiving approach to your own experiences, particularly useful in times of stress or failure.

My work is deeply informed by my experiences working with military servicemembers and veterans, providing services in various medical settings including orthopedics and sports medicine, and treating burn survivors. I enjoy working with adults across the lifespan. Currently, in addition to my work with Attune Philadelphia Therapy Group, I also work full-time at a military treatment facility (MTF) in Texas.
